Chapter 118 - How An Emperor Raised A Killer
In fact, Ji Yao had had the privilege to find out the true history of Prince Rui and his Nocru mother. After hearing those details he had finally understood why this monster was the way he was.
It was partly due to the terrible treatment the prince was subjected to as a child. After watching his mother take her own life in front of him while his father stood there and did nothing it made sense why he had a heart of stone.
Yes, this didn\'t excuse him from the horrible things he did but it somewhat shed light on how a psychopath was born. A psychopath that had no problem killing his own children all for the sake of power. This man moulded Prince Rui into the shape he is in today.
The emperor trembled involuntarily daring not to make a sound and further infuriate this youth. Ji Yao wanted to do more than just throw things at him but he didn\'t feel like wasting anymore of his energy on him.
"I won\'t kill you because that\'s for your grandchildren to decide.... You created a beast that terrorised forty five innocent souls who did nothing but be born from your son\'s seed. To me you still have some use keeping Hyesong together but to those you hurt they would rather watch this entire continent burn," he said with his fist clenched underneath the table.
Whenever he recalled the condition he found Rui Fei in he couldn\'t help want to fight this old man. But it wasn\'t up to him to execute punishment. The people he wronged were the ones to bring down the axe in retribution.
After minutes of calming down his turbulent emotions, he finally spoke, "I will give you back your imperial palace tomorrow but whether you live or die tonight has nothing to do with me. Bear in mind that every action has consequences."
The emperor who had his head lowered suddenly sprung up intending to beg for his life. Recalling how that little girl lunged at him yesterday he couldn\'t help but shudder. If it weren\'t for her being held back his head would have already been detached from his neck by now.
But before he could even utter a single word of plea, Ji Yao flung his hand sending him flying out of the room. The door shut tightly after that before the room fell into silence. Thinking of their next destination Ji Yao ignored the wails of a grown man coming from the outside and focused on the keystone and necklace right in front of him.
Rui Fei\'s words echoed in his mind as the necklace dangled on his hand oscillating at a snail\'s pace. Ji Yao closed his eyes and engaged his aether. In a split second, the keystone rose from the table surrounded by a red blaze. The flame suddenly turned black before slowly infusing into one of the gemstones.
The necklace suddenly began to fall apart as though disintegrating all except for one of the gemstones which we can now assume was the other keystone. The two keystones were linked together like a link in a chain.
He injected his seraphic energy into the yellow keystone and soon his spirit, soul and mind were transferred into the void. Inside this transcended space were two brightly lit keystones which were also the ones in his current possession. From a distance, he could see tiny little dots with dim lights as described by Rui Yewan.
All he had to find was the next keystone that was brighter than the rest but lighter than the ones he already had. He started walking scanning around for this precious stone. But regardless of how hard he tried, he couldn\'t find it.
It was taking longer than expected but he didn\'t plan on giving up. What he didn\'t realise was the toll this thing had on his body. Blood began to trickle down one of his nostrils indicating that it was time to stop but he wouldn\'t. He pushed his aether to the max trying to find the stone and the more energy he put into it the more aggression spilled over from his Qilin side.
The pressure mounted up pressing against his chest as the amount of seraphic energy released in the room increased. A tornado of flames occupied the room turning over furniture and burning papers. The longer he stayed in this state the greater the aggression.
At the peak of his strength, he suddenly opened his eyes his lips uttering the language of the Qilin. Lo and behold he saw the keystone. Covered in a dark cloud was a bright blue stone hovering in the air.
He made a few hand gestures in the space and blew away all the clouds clearing the obstruction. A loud howling sound was heard as though the clouds had a life form of their own.
A sly grin appeared on his face as he walked over to touch this stone and figure out its location. As soon as he touched it something terrifying happened. There was a man with eyes as red as his glowering at him with a psychotic smile.
This man\'s aura, strength and smile were so terrifying that Ji Yao froze in place. On his head, he had big antlers that branched off like vines. He stood there in that desolate cold place as though he had been waiting for him.
"She can\'t find me so she sends her filthy half blood to come to get me....," the Nocru said followed by a throaty chuckle, "you know where I am now then come find me!"
As soon as his words fell Ji Yao was pushed out with so much force that he fell backwards as the keystones hit the table with a clatter. Ji Yao held his chest that had just suffered a palm strike as he gasped for air.
Whoever that person was he knew Qilin Hao but his mother didn\'t send him so what was he talking about? What he didn\'t realise was that if he successfully captures that man then he would have caught the best bargaining chip he could find.. Too bad he would never know how close he was to getting his father back till he had collected the rest of the keystones.
